Hi everyone,

As my topic states, I'm thinking about upgrading my gpu, but before I do, I have some concerns. I have upgraded my GPU once before from a Radeon HD 5570 to a Radeon Sapphire 6950(bought this around the time Battlefield 3 came out). When I made the upgrade, I also had to upgrade my PSU, which I also did(A Corsair CX430 to a Corsair GS600). Within a year and a half of having the card it died, artifacts, blue screens, the whole 9-yards. Now, I did not RMA the card, instead gave it a to friend to take a look at, who confirmed that it was indeed a bunk card, only it took him another year to get around to telling me that. Meanwhile, my PC sat and collected dust. Recently, I got the PC up and running again. My friend has been letting me use his Nvidia GTX 750ti until I was able to purchase a new card of my own. I actually really like the GTX 750ti, it's runs very cool, and its a pretty powerful little card for running off the MB power alone, however I myself have been looking at the GTX 660. So I know I took a round about way of asking, but here's my question. Should I consider purchasing a new PSU along with the new GPU? I just can't help wondering more and more, if my old 6950 died because of insufficient power supply. I know since I didn't RMA the card there is no real way to tell if it was actually the card that was faulty, but I don't want to risk picking up a $200 GPU to have my PSU fry it again. I've been hearing from more people that although Corsair is a reliable brand for PSU's, the GS600 is actually somewhat on the low end. Maybe I'm just being overly paranoid, but as I said early, Id really prefer not to kill another card.

Side question, not to set off a debate about Nvidia vs Ati, but why is that Nvidia GTX cards seem to take less power to run than some of its Radeon counterparts? For example, my old 6950 required 2 6-pin power plugs to run the card, but the 750ti requires just the on-board power to run it. Yet both cards seem to be able to handle pretty demanding games at very high settings, without a noticeable change in performance(at least in my opion)
