Hi, i'm a new pc builder and can soon get a job to upgrade my pc with new components. Since i've built my first pc, I have a 1tb hard drive. I don't want to get a new one. Is there a specific way to install the HDD I currently have on an MSI Motherboard to a Gigabyte motherboard in the future? I know there's bios updates and stuff, so do I have to uninstall anything. Also, i'm going to get an SSD for my boot drive. How do I transfer my OS to the SSD from my HDD?

Solution
Bios is actually stored in motherboard memory not HDD so no you don't have to do anything just plug it in and you are good to go

And DO NOT transfer OS from HDD to SSD as there is chance to be sector misalignment causing SSD to run slower and to live shorter. just install OS from scratch on SSD.

Do you have a Windows CD ? if not windows can be downloaded from Microsoft website as long as you have a genuine product key. depending of which OS you have, you can download it burn it on a CD or create a bootable USB stick with windows in it. Then install windows from one of these two media on your SSD.
