I am upgrading from an MSI R7 250 1GB and I have narrowed the search down to these two cards.

An the first contestant is:

XFX Double D R9-280A-TDFD Radeon R9 280 3GB
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150706

And
MSI R9 280X GAMING 3GB
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127759

ok so really there were three cards I was looking at. This one was just in a differrnt price range but I wouldn't be opposed if it was really THAT much better then the other two but I know memory alone is not a shoe in for better performance.

MSI R9 280X GAMING 6GB
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127786

And of course if you would like to throw in your favorite recomonation that is withing the $300 price range I would be happy to take a look.

thanks for your time and opinions.

@DHFF - how many monitors will you use?
If your answer is "One", then the card to go for is the MSI R9 280x 3GB.
The 6GB I would only recommend for 3 or more monitors, but at this level, you should already be looking for R9 290/R9 290X.

@ Trawetsluap: I am really on the fence about it. 6GB of Vid Memory sounds very inticing but it is anywhere from $60-$100 more then the other two and I cant decide if its really worth that much more.

Only you can decide that! I went for a 6GB card as (In my opinion) it provides me with a little bit more future proofing than a 3GB card.

More then likely I will be sticking with one monitor. I might be enlarging it but more then likely I will stick with single display. I mainly wante a little more muscle then I am currently getting.

It honestly was an afterthought as I was writing my OP. Double the Ram for just $60 more then the more expensive option. But really my main reason for this thread was to decide between the XFX an MSI 3GB cards.

Thanks, that is what I was curious about.
Is there anything out there leagues better then the MSI 3GB card for around the same price or is that about as decent as it comes for the money?
