Hi. everyone. I have a Inspiron 560 Mt that has a duo core processor.
My question is can I upgrade the current processor to quad core or should I just buy a new computer? Any help will be appreciated. sister5091

It looks like the CPU is a socket LGA 775 model. You can get a Core 2 Quad Q6600 if you can find one online, but a new PC with an i5 Haswell CPU will be much better.

Info I pulled up shows it'll support a Core2 Quad, but I'm not seeing exact cpu model numbers. http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/19/product-suppo... Honestly, it's probably just best to build a new pc, since any cpu you could find for that is going to be off ebay and of a questionable nature.

I would agree that LGA 775 and even LGA 1366 CPUs would be hard to find online. If you're strapped for cash, you can get an i5-4430 and H81 motherboard (socket LGA 1150) or even an AMD FX-6300 and an AM3+ motherboard.

There are LGA 775 chips from various vendors on pcpartspicker. However, whether it's worth putting money into a 2 gen old socket is another question.

Update: I should specify that I was looking on US pcpartspicker, although they are available in other countries.
