cant find my new OWC external hard drive in my disk management at all but when right clicking going into properties on drive J.. which is labeled as Disk 5 Removable ( J:) no media.. it Says my external name in the properties but not on disk itself.. It doesn't show up on my computer but it pops up saying hardware installed and ready to use.. But it does show up in my device manager and in my control panel under devices.. But that's it.. Need help asap.. Tried everything and still no solution..

Don't use an external drive only for your files. If you must, get a second one for backups. Actually, not matter what type of drive you use, internal, external, you need a backup drive or a DVD or BluRay burner for backups if your files are not that large. Optical disks are more of a pain to work with though as each time you make a change, you need to re-do the disk, and the media tends to go bad after several years.

Tried it on a laptop after trying it on my desk top.. Still nothing.. I bought my external hard drive online.. I do music so I need this to work so I can save my sessions. So far nothing has helped.. Thought I could find a answer here..
