Hi guys,

I recently did a new build. Consisting of the following:

Motherboard: asrock fm2a88m-hd+ (BIOS update done upon build)
Cpu: AMD A10-7850k
Cpu heatsink: Coolermaster TX3 EVO
Memory: Gskill [RipjawsX] F3-14900CL9D-8GBXL
Boot Drive: Adata SP600 128gb
Storage Drive: Seagate 1TB barracuda
Power Supply: Corsair CX430
Monitor: Samsung S20C300B (1600x900)
Operating System: Windows 7 Home Premium 64Bit

So initially build, i updated the bios, and catalyst driver. Windows 7 Windows Experience Index rating shows that the iGPU driver seems to be installed properly.

When first booted, Bios indicates memory was set at 1600 which was tweaked by me to 1866. Aside from this, i left all as normal. I did not touch any voltages, or fan settings or anything else.

So here's my problem, i mainly use the computer as a work station and movie viewing medium. For this everything is fine and dandy. Not a hiccup.

However, recently i downloaded and installed GTA 4 which i wanted to start playing. Looking at the requirements my computer should be capable of handling it. However, with all visual (resolution, Anti aliasing, details, etc) turned all the way down, the computer still crashes and reboot upon starting the game.

I have no clue why, it is some java coder thats missing? or some program error? or is it hardware? is it the memory tweak i did? or is it something else.

I'm looking for advice as to what is the probable cause for this malfunction. I will like to start trying to fix it, but i dont know where to start. If someone is willing to list a series of stuff to check by order or probable cause. It will offer me great help. Thank you.

Solution

XMP profiles work fine on AMD ,

If 1600 Mhz solves the problem try going back to 1866 , and giving it a touch more voltage on the RAM

Yup, I think thats one of the first i'll do.

However, I will like to know if there's a list, as such i can continuously keep checking for errors. It quite hard to check one, and reinstall the whole thing together, to come here and get the next step.

I appreciate any help that can be provided.

Noted, but i dont think my motherboard reads XMP profiles since those are for intels and not AMDs.
