What is the brand and model of your PSU? And what is your budget for your new GPU? Also where will you be shopping for it?

It's an 1 generation old GPU, but still pretty good and relevant, especially for the price. The 3GB version used to cost around $270 before the 700 series came out. I'm not sure if it ever actually needs that much memory, but since it only costs $180 with a $60 game, you're getting a steal. The R9 270 costs almost twice as much in this effect. Why not?

He's talking about the Newegg Deal. It currently costs $180 with Watchdogs while all the other places are selling it alone for about $220.

That's fine. You don't get a medal for everything you do well in life.

Looks good. Any quality PSU 550W and above should run that card with good headroom to spare (including power for overclocked CPUs).

is there a real benefit for going for the 3GB you may ask, no.

Why? you may ask well here is one of the main reasons;

The core struggles before the vram is really fully utilised, as a result the extra vram adds little to no help, even as the resolutions and vram requirement increases.

People may say "But Battle field 4 and Watch dogs require both more then 2GB Vram, so it is needed", does it really...no it does not, why, because it can't be utilised and it is not due to the memory bandwidth not capable of it, as they aren't related as much as they sound they do. The Core is not capable of really taking advantage of the extra 1GB, hence the reason why they aren't that popular with people who buy the cards.

For an example, why do most people only buy the extra Vramed cards when doing multi-GPU'd builds? Since Vram isn't added, having 2GB+2GB=2GB, so when using two graphics cards people tend to want 4GB+4GB=4GB, and take advantage of the extra Vram capability due to the core's ability to really take advantage of it and really utilise it. They do this as the difference is noticeable as if they bought the 2GB models it would be limiting them as the examples of games listed above would benefit from the greater Vram.

Just for the information.

I see your point there and it makes sense. I want to tell you, I am not buying the 660 for more vram because I was going for the sapphire r9 270 2gb. Its just that watchdogs is coming with the 660 so I am like why not buy it. I will only be using it for 3 years and then I will build a new pc with everythilng new. So the 660 is just for me so to use for 3 years and until that time accumulate money for a new gaming rig.
