I've been offered a good deal on another xfx HD 7990 and a 1250Watt PSU. I've already got an xfx 7990 and I am more than pleased with it now I've ironed a few kinks out. I have an Xpredator case (2x 120mm coolmaster case side exhausts, 200mm top exhaust, 120mm cool master rear, front bottom 200mm intake), i7 4770k (coolmaster huge heatsink, can't remember the model), and 16Gb Vengeance Pro @21300Mhz (2x 8Gb) slotted into a GD65 Z8Z. I can't seam to find any recent reviews on 7990's in crossfire, but only successful vidoes and would like to know or hear from anyone who may have recently built or has a system with a 7990 (crossfire) quadfire setup. Pros and cons of this particular would be greatly appreciated. My current 7990 idles @41c (GPU 0) and @38c (GPU 1) and load @78c on core 0 and @75c on core 1. I state the temps as I understand the top card is likely to take the brunt of the heat build up (my guess would be to swap the cards round every so often after x amount of time). The deal is for both the PSU and 7990 today for £300. So guys and gals, I've my work cut out to decide yay or nay on what could be a potentially corking deal. Worse case scenario would be, built another system if I got stuck. I'd rather not. I'd rather a stellar quadfire rig!
Thanks in advance.

Well this is the easiest way to break it down.
If you are satisfied with the performance now, keep it.
If you want more, try a different setup or wait until the 8xx series drops.

Quadfire scales very poorly, and has more issues than xfire does by far. I wouldnt recommend it due to the poor scaling and massive heat dump.
Sure its possible, but having a 295x2 or SLI 780Tis would be much more preferable.

It'll be OK if you're using a 4K monitor or a few 1440p's. Otherwise, it's just a waste of electricity. One 7990 should be more than plenty.

What is the source of that "deal"? If that 7990 was used for mining I would not touch it - this deal is just too suspicious to me.

Your above points are good one's, especially the mining one. I did message him, asking if he used them for mining (he has four xfx 7990's and four MSI 7990's up for sale) and I'm still waiting on the answer. An MSI 7990 can be found new one a certain major online auction site for £275 new. Given the 1250Watt PSU and 7990 are £300 I considered the price fair game...ish! Am I right in thinking after your warning that a mind card has had a very hard life, and if so, should that apply to the PSU too?

What I had in mind was to have triple 55" in eyefinity @1080p for bf4, grid autosport etc. I have two 55"'s at the moment. Maybe one 7990 could handle three anyway?
