Witch cpu will go best with my new r9 270 graphics card?
The i5 2400 is on a sale where i live but it is older and the i3 4150 is still a little cheaper and newer..

The i5 2400 is a better CPU, however you will need a new motherboard if you want to use either of those chips as they use different socket types.

That is part of my upgrade, Is there a big difference in performance between these 2?

i5 would be better than i3 anytime...so get the i5 but either u get a i5 or i3 u have to change your board as well i5 2400 is a 2nd gen with lga 1155 socket and i3 4th gen with a 1150 socket and u currently have a 1st gen processor with motherboard lga 1156 socket...

Yes, there is, the I3 has about 10% better SINGLE core performance, but the I5 is better because it is a quad core CPU compared to the I3 dual core.

You can always get the middle ground AMD FX6300 which sits close to the I5 2400 oin performance but should cost less.

That isn't an option in my country.. I'm sure i would have gotten that.
Btw what difference will i see if a upgrade to the i3 4150 from the i3 540?

A massive difference depending on what you are doing, especially in newer games that want a bit of CPU power.

I heard from a few places that the i3 4150 behaves like it has 4 cores.

It does. Because it has something thats called Hyperthreading, this "simulates" that it has 4 cores. But 4 REAL cores are always better than 2 real cores and 2 hyperthreading "cores".

Sigh, actually the I3 will be better in games that utilize 2 or less threads. Like Skyrim for example.

well ya its a sandy bridge cpu but that dose not make it less powerful than the i3 haswell.....the difference between the price tag is for a reason..
