Hi everyone, I want to know which card is better for my lower end budget, the msi twin frozr iv 270x or the gigabyte 280? The 270x is on sale now for $199 while the r9 280 is $209
Is the 280 significantly better than the 270x and how's the graphics cards from gigabyte? I really like the design of the twin frozr :x

amd's new name changed to make it easier to tell which one is better.
the lower the numbers the weaker the card the higher the numbers the better the card.
the 280 is in betwene the 270 x and 280 x

But is the gigabyte OC version any good though?
http://www.ncix.com/detail/gigabyte-radeon-r9-280-oc-0b...

I'm asking this because I want something lasting me longer down the line, I know the 280 is better but I'm being more brand specific about these cards :X.

My build right now is this:
GeForce Zotac GTX 560
Gigabyte 990FXA-UD3 Motherboard
RipjawsX - F3-12800CL9D-8GBXL (x2)
Seasonic ss 650ht active pfc f3 Power Supply
Fx-8320

Would the power supply support the R9 280 if I replace the 560 to the 280 though? I'm not too good with wattage calculations... even with the wattage calculators on the web (I don't know what to select sometimes because I don't know what they are)

Would my power supply be able to handle the 280 though with all the rest of the stuff?

Your power supply can easily handle a 280 and going the Sapphire R9 280 Dual-X w/ Boost http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00IZXOW80 is a much better buy than getting a R9 270X.

Everything about the R9 280 is superior to the R9 270X including the price to performance ratio.

Neither will last you a long time. In two years you'll want more grunt. Try a gtx 780ti instead. It'll last you 3 years. Then you'll be yearning for a 8 or 9 series gtx.
