Hi. I've been searching for a new graphics card for a while and have come to the conclusion that i need an amd radeon hd 7990. However, since i don't really know what i need in a gpu i am really starting to doubt my choice. I need a graphics card that is able to run games such as Crysis 3, battlefield 4 and Sniper Elite 3 (plus other new games) on high to maximum settings on a 1080p monitor (i only have one monitor) with a respectable frame rate (of over 40 or even 50-dont mind if it drops under that as long as it is usually at these higher FPS)
My PC specs are:
AMD A10-6800K 4.1GHz Quad-Core
Corsair XMS3 8GB DDR3-1333 (1*8)
MSI A55M-E33 Motherboard
(I also have a 1TB HDD)
Running on Windows 7 Home Premium
I am trying not to spend anymore than £400 (the 7990 being around that price)

I really need help choosing the right video card
thanks in advance for any given answers

(I cant crossfire or use sli as my motherboard is a micro atx-this is also why i have been looking at gpus with multiple chips such as the hd 7990)

I don't tend to recommend XFX graphics cards anymore, the coolers are somewhat terrible, especially the DD models.

I know these cards are more but they are considered worth it;

Asus R9 280X DirectCU II/TOP

Sapphire R9 280X Toxic/dual-X/Tri-x/Vapor-X

Gigabyte R9 280X Windforce 3X/OC

MSI R9 280X Gaming

that card is probably not the greatest choice. it is EXPENSIVE. For the price rather get a gtx780ti or even a straight gtx780. the 7990 is very powerful, but it is older tech, as well as needing a lot of power. Because there are 2 gpu's on that board you may also get the problems associated with xfire. Some games don't mind, some games don't like it and some games don't work at all. you will also want to upgrade your power supply, you can do that with the change you left over from buying a GTX780/ti insead of that card. other good choices are: R290x or even a GTX770

Your A10 would bottleneck a 7990 somewhat, it's basically a 760k and it's going to affect your framerates no matter what GPU you put in there.

I would do something like this:

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

Power Supply: XFX 650W 80+ Bronze Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply (£60.06 @ CCL Computers)
Total: £270.05

Power is supplied on a 'pull' basis, the system only draws what it needs regardless of PSU size.

And total wattage is not the best indicator of power, it's the +12v rail usage that matters. Having said that, a high quality 550w PSU is enough for most users
