Hey, I currently have the Logitech z5500 speakers, but I'm a little dissapointed in the overall sound quality.
So i was looking for something better but I'm terrible with speakers...
So i need hep to find some good ones.
Here are my requirements: Doesnt matter if 2.1 or surround.
''Need'' a sub with over 180 watt rms.
Gotta play loud.
Gotta work with a pc.

I know Harman kardon makes really good speakers but i dont know which one to buy.
I also looked at creatives ziisound t6 if you guys recomend them over the logitechs then ill but them.
I have a budget of $1000 so i guess i could build my own set but i dont know any good subs,speakers or amps :I

Good sound is such a subjective thing though, and depending on what you are listening to different products might not work out. For instance I would probably prefer a pair of good studio monitors that are as flat as possible, but most people just seem to want a big sub that shakes the windows and don't really care that much about quality.

For instance, you say you want a sub that's at least 180 watts and then say it has to be loud... but 'loudness' isn't always from wattage. A driver that's rated at 86dB@1w@1m will need to be over like 500 watts to have the same loudness as a driver that's rated 93dB using about 130 watts. Once you get over the first little bit it takes a huge amount of power to increase loudness. Plus, once you get...

Plus, once you get over the 110dB range you are talking about damaging your hearing by listening anyway so at some point it's a little silly.

Then you need to think about form factor, are you looking for floor standing, in a corner, bookshelf... There is so much to go over it's almost hard to do over a forum. You'd probably be better off going to somewhere that you can take some audio that you know and listen to often and try out some speakers until you find something that you like.

If you want to keep it simple then I would suggest either of these Paradigm 2.1 systems:

A good stereo receiver and speakers plus sub can be done for $1000. Hard to make recommendations since your taste in music and sound affect this. If you have a high end audio shop in your area get over there. If they carry Paradigm you can hear the 2.1 vs receiver/speakers. They sell stuff that is way out of your range but they usually have entry level equipment that is judged on the basis of their much more expensive systems.
