Greetings guys, this is my first post.

My present config:

    Asus P8H61-M LE
    i5-2400 stock @3.10 Ghz
    XFX Radeon HD 6790 1GB
    Corsair VX450W
    4GB RAM

Here's the deal: My budget is only US$ 250-300 (I already put aside US$ 80 for 8GB RAM) with which I am willing to spend on a new GPU. I don't care about running games on 9999x9999, I'd like new-gen games like DA Inquisition, The Witcher 3, Watch Dogs, etc (I don't play any FPS) on high-ultra specs at 1600x900. I've read a lot of posts here telling, for example, that the R9 270/280/280X wouldn't bottleneck my good old i5-2400 so.... what do you guys think... which one do I buy? Also, can my Corsair VX450W handle a new GPU?

Prices where I live:

    SAPPHIRE R9 270X 2GB DUAL-X-------------US$ 210
    SAPPHIRE R9 270X 2GB VAPOR-X-----------US$ 234
    ASUS R9 270X DIRECTCU II------------------US$ 240
    SAPPHIRE R9 280X 3GB---------------------US$ 265
    EVGA GTX 760SC 2GB----------------------US$ 295
    ZOGIS GTX 760 2GB------------------------US$ 275
    ZOGIS GTX 760 2GB SUPERCLOCK------------US$ 285

Thanks in advance!

If you are willing to spend more go for the GTX 760, but it performs just about 10% better than the R9 270X, so the 270X is cheaper in price/performance comparison.

Both of them will give you the possibility to play most games in 1920x1080p in Ultra settings very decently, if you play in a smaller resolution you'll get even more fps.

The PSU is enough in terms of power, but both AMD and Nvidia recommend a minimum of 500W for both the GPUs.

EDIT: I did not see the R9 280X. Go for that one without a doubt, it's by far the best in that list.

I'd say go with the... Zogis? (You mean Zotac, right?) 760 for $275. The 270X may seem like a better deal but that would also cost you a new PSU since AMD cards are known for being quite power hungry. I've heard about people running 760's on 450W PSUs so... get the GTX 760.

Edit: I completely missed the 280X in that list. Yeah, go get the 280X but buy a new PSU with it. I'd say at least a minimum of 550W 80+ Bronze.

Get Sapphire R9 280X 3GB, the best out of all there and a great price.

Indeed... I was about to ask you guys "what about the 280X?". About the PSU I found only two:

    CORSAIR CS650M 80P---------------US$ 140
    SATELLITE SL-X1000----------------US$ 135

Would they do the job?

I would prefer the Corsair.

But search for the XFX Pro 550W, it's really good and cheaper than the ones you specified. And GPU, definitely the R9 280X

All of those cards will need a stronger PSU to feed them, most need dual 6 pin PCI-E power leads and the R9 280X and possibly the overclocked R9 270Xs should need 1x6 and 1x8 pin leads so my advice is to replace the PSU with a good quality 550 or even 600 Watt unit with 1x6 and 1x8 (that one will almost certainly be shown as a 6+2) leads first and upgrade the graphics later when you have saved enough for it.
Good choices come from: Corsair (try to steer clear of the 'CX' 'VX' and 'VS' series), Silverstone, Seasonic, XFX (Pro series), Rosewill (Capstone series), FSP (Aurium series), Antec, Superflower, Fractal Design or PC Power and Cooling (old stock but still top quality).
This handy chart shows how the cards stack up: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/gaming-graphics-card-revi...
With an older system and a lower resolution than 1080 I'll suggest you look at either the R9 270X or R9 280 (non 'X') or the GTX760, they'll all handle even very demanding titles at good frame rates and high/ultra settings at 1080 res.

R9 280X no doubt, an XFX 550W would be really good.

Thank you all guys. I'll go for a PSU first then the R9 280X because I plan on upgrading the mobo and processor later.

If that's the case you MAY want to hang on until October/November time, Nvidia are (according to rumour) going to release some very new cards then...Assuming you're still watching the thread.

Oh I see... As a matter of fact I read on tech blogs about those possible new Nvidia cards. Do you think AMD will do the same?

Haven't read anything, but AMD may just be playing their cards close to their chests.
Choice is obviously yours, me, I'm impatient so I'd be looking for a card now, rather than waiting. ;)

Thanks for the help coozie7. I was going for a PS4 before but then I thought it would be wiser to slowly upgrade my PC since my present config is still on the fight. By the way I'm also very impatient. 2 years back I bought a card just for the "now" and it's still attached to my mobo :heink:  . So I guess I'll wait these two months to see how it goes.
