The flash drive was plugged into a side port and got stepped on so now I can't get any data and the PC doesn't recognize the device. I have a years worth of very valuable data on the drive and I will lose my job if I can't recover the data. Please help me, I am very worried and willing to try ANYTHING to retrieve the work. Thanks for your interest and help!

Take it to an experience electronics technician who knows how to use the hot air blowing solder station.try to get the usb soldered back.use a usb wire from a mouse or some other peripheral insted of trying to solder back the orginal plug of the usb.

If that's not possible.ask him to take out the chip manually and solder that chip on a different pen drive of the exact same model .

And for future reference, important data should always have backup copies stored on different devices so scenarios like this one means you just go out and buy another flash drive instead of shelling out a few hundred bucks for recovery or getting fired.
