I've been plagued with inexplicable crashes with my Asus gtx 780 directcu ii graphics card since day one. Out of desperation, I swapped it into the second PCIe slot on my M5A97:
Slot 1) PCIe 2.0 x16 (blue)
Slot 2) PCIe 2.0 x16 (x4 mode, black)
It not only work (not sure if it fixed the crashes yet)... but it actually benchmarked higher in the 4x slot then the 16x slot..... what could be going on here?

CPU: FX-8350
Mobo: Asus M5a97
Ram: 8GB

Cooling(cpu): Corsair H100i
