I am having the same problem my laptop c55 checking media no bootable device please restart system what can I do to fix it.

No, I mean if you go into the BIOS, does your hard drive show up there? If it does, that's a good step but now we need to figure out how to run tests on it. In the BIOS look around and make sure "SMART" for hard drives is enabled. It should be in the settings somewhere as pretty much all systems have it and it runs a few extra tests on the hard drive prior to booting up.

If that doesn't tell us anything we need to run some diagnostic tests on the hard drive using third party software or install another drive to see if it's recognized. It could be a problem with the hard drive controller although that's rather a rare circumstance. If you don't know how to get into the BIOS I'll find out for you as most systems have their own method but I'll need to know what kind of computer, model etc, you have.

Ok, good. Now what I think should be your next step is to go in there and see if it shows your hard disk drive information. If it does, great, we can move on to testing it. If it doesn't show a hard drive and it's information then there is probably a problem with it and it may need to be replaced or you may need to take it to somebody who can test it for you if you don't feel comfortable doing it yourself.
