If you're getting a blue screen error: STOP 0x0000007B INACCESSABLE_BOOT_DEVICE ...

Try changing the SATA Mode Selection from [AHCI] to [IDE], save the BIOS change and reboot. If you get further than before, then that indicates that the original Windows install on your previous system was performed in IDE mode.

The preferred mode is AHCI.

To resolve this issue yourself, enable the AHCI driver in the registry before you change the SATA mode of the boot drive. To do this, follow these steps:

1. Exit all Windows-based programs.

check the boot settings, you may have installed windows on a system that does not have AHCI yet. If you installed your OS using IDE config for your HD, when you boot up and the bios is set to AHCI, you'll get a BSOD. can't remember where you can find it though. I'll check later.

4. Locate and then click one of the following registry subkeys:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Msahci

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\IastorV

5. In the pane on the right side, right-click Start in the Name column, and then click Modify.

6. In the Value data box, type 0, and then click OK.

7. On the File menu, click Exit to close Registry Editor.

During the next reboot POST (i.e. Power On Self Test) enter the BIOS setup and change the SATA Mode Selection from [IDE] to [AHCI] save the change and reboot.
