Hi.

I want to sell my Alienware M17x so I've formatted it and put a version of trial version of Windows 7 on it from my USB HDD. Here's my specs.

3rd Generation Intel Core i7-3630QM (6MB Cache, up to 3.4GHz w/ Turbo Boost 1 2.0)
2GB GDDR5 AMD Radeon HD 7970M
8192MB (2x4096) 1600MHz DDR3 Dual Channel
Hard Drive : 500GB 7,200rpm SATA 3Gb/s HDD

When I get to the configuring windows screen after it's done the updates, just before it configures my desktop I get a message saying:

Quote:
Windows setup could not configure to run on this computer's hardware

I googled it and got this solution.

Quote:
At "windows setup cannot configure windows for this hardware"
Shift F10
Type -
Cd..
Cd..
Cd c:\windows\system32\oobe
Msoobe
This should force it to finalize and create computer name, password, time, etc.

So great it worked, but I wanted to check if it has fixed it from doing it again as I would expect the person who I've sold it to to format it as I would, and I don't want any angry emails!

So, why is it doing this and how do I fix it? Any help is appreciated, thanks!

I changed the SATA Operation from RAID to ATA and it seems to work now. Is this a big deal? I'm not running more than one HDD.
