Hey guys,
I have today received my R9 280x TOXIC and having plugged it in and installed all drivers it is running swimmingly. Had AC4 on full settings and it's gorgeous. However, my computer has crashed a few times. It just completely blacks out and then I have to turn the power supply on and off to get it to turn on again. The first time it happened was when I tried to update the windows system score. It got to the 2nd stage or so and said something about DirectX 9 then the computer crashed. I have just now run 'Sniper: Ghost Warrior' on Steam and gone into graphics and tried to change the graphics mode from DirectX 9 to DirectX 11. Upon clicking apply changes the computer immediately crashed. Instant blackout.
What is causing this and how do I fix it? I am to entirely sure I have Dx11 installed, I haven't downloaded anything but I thought maybe it updated automatically. Have I missed something?
I have redone the things that caused the crashes and am therefore sure that it is them causing the problem.
Thanks,
Tom
EDIT - I just ran furmark and the PC crashed instantly. I don't think my PSU is good enough to handle my GPU properly or Dx11. It is a cheap replacement that the man at the computer shop put in when my old one blew. Because of this I am going to need to buy a new one. Can someone recommend me the cheapest PSU possible that can support a Sapphire Toxic R9 280x running Dx11.
