Hi, I recently upgraded my computer from a 200gb to a 500gb without a problem. I just inserted it into the computer and copied all my data from one HDD to the other and removed the old hard drive.
I have now installed Windows 7 to my computer and thought I could just re insert the old hard drive and copy the files back on, but it every time I insert the hard drive, the pc begins to start up to the windows 7 logo and then restarts and says recommend repair?

I just want to get a few files that were on the hdd before the windows 7 installation

thanks :)

Make sure you new boot drive is on the lowest numbered sata port. enter the bios and make sure it is first in the hard drive boot order.

Try unplugging the sata cable from the drive you want to get files from. after windows has loaded from your main drive, plug the sata cable in. It should pop up as another hard drive under my computer. Now you can transfer your data.
