Overclocking both CPU and GPU with Kraken G10?

Hi all,

I am looking to build a system with an AIO liquid cooler (probably Corsair Hydro H110) and an NZXT Kraken G10. If you do not know, the G10 is a hybrid system that cools the GPU with the AIO's power and its own fan. I plan to overclock both components and I do not know if the H110 can handle both the CPU (i7 4790k) and the GPU (R9 290). Could anyone voice his/her opinion?

Thank you,

Marooner

Well the H110 is a closed loop cooler so you can't add to it. If you want to water cooler your GPU you will need to build an entire custom loop cooler, and if you are going to do that you should probably use it on your CPU also since it works a lot better than the H110.

Kraken G10 is meant to be used with an AIO cooler... Also, I am not confident that I can build my own liquid cooling system.

I'm not sure how it is meant to. They are called Closed-loop for a reason. The hoses are usually glued onto the parts and removing them would destroy them and not be able to reconnect them. I could be wrong, but that is how Closed-loops are supposed to be.

Ahh okay I was curious so I looked it up:

So now I can better answer your question. No you cannot use the H110 as a cooler for both the CPU and GPU. What the Kraken G10 does is it allows you to mount the cooler onto the graphics card instead of the CPU so you can use it on the graphics card. By doing this though, it is mounted to the graphics card and not the CPU, so it only works for what you have it mounted to. The cooling pipes are still as I mentioned previously permanently bounded to the cooler assembly and removing them would destroy the cooler.
