Lately i have been having a issue with my new GPU (gtx 780ti) it worked great for a week or two then my pc began to shut down and GPU would run fans very fast. At first i thought it was a heating issue with either CPU or GPU so i ran a CPU stress test and it passed fine then i ran 3d mark and PC shut down. So first i uninstalled all drivers and did a clean install this worked for a few hours. Then my pc shut down after gpu fan went max'd out again also pc was still running and i could here the games in background but no dispaly and had to manual shutdown like before.

i had previously been using sleeved PCIE cables i got from corsair with this psu when comparing them to the ones that came with PSU and GPU all three seem to have differences in shape or in wiring i am a bit confused as to what is the correct ones to use i have switch all the sleeved cables out with the ones that came with the psu. Also do the pcie lanes that you plug the cables into the psu matter i have them in the Pcie/cpu section do voltages vary in each port of that category?

So far setup like this i have had no issues i finished at 3am last night after swapping cables, and ran a quick 3d mark with no heat or other issues. Today i will run a few games for a couple hours which is when it usually crashes and see how it turns out.

Im new to pc building and figured a PCIE cable was a standard thing and all were the same, so i guess my question is what ones should i use i currently have on 8pin and a 6pin (both say PCIE not cpu on them) plugged in as i did before, but the design of each male and female end seem to vary per manufacture?
