So, about last year before I left for college my cpu over heated and it melted the MOBO brace that you clamp the cpu fan onto.

Fast forward a year later, I go out and buy a new cpu because I believed that that was the problem. Go home, pop that it, and try to boot my PC.

Everything turns on and seems as if it is running, the fans spin, the HDD loads up. Everything except for my monitor receives no signal and there are no beeps.

I just took out everything except for the MOBO and when I try booting it there is still no beeps or boot up process.

Is my MOBO fried?

Solution

The MOBO plastic does not carry any electricity. If the temps were hot enough to melt the plastic that holds the HSF in place, it could have been hot enough to damage the very fine wires in the MOBO that carry the signals necessary for the computer to work.

Thank you this is what I assumed, I was just making sure there wasn't something I was missing before I drop some money on a new MOBO, an upgrade is always welcome though. Any ideas on good AM3+ mobos?
