HELP! Resolution problems with TV

Just built my first pc successfully-

Using a 19" Logitek TV for a monitor connected to the PC with a HDMI cable for the moment until I get the money for a proper monitor.

HOWEVER,

Using the right click>screen resolution function, I cannot see any native resolutions and it won't let me change it as the box is "grey and faded out".

It also is telling my display is a "generic PnP Monitor on standard VGA graphics adapter". This is odd as it is connected via a HDMI cable.

Any ideas as to why I can't change to the native res (which I presume is 1920x1080)??

PS: I haven't got a graphics card in and am using my haswell desktop onboard graphics)

Google the tv model for the specifics on it.

Just because it is a flat panel, LCD display - it does not have to be FHD (1080P) or HD (720) native resolution. could simply be a standard definition (480P IIRC) display that does not support any other resolutions and is telling the GPU exactly that over the HDMI cable.
