Help buying a 780 ti

Hi guys, I'm looking at buying a new 780 ti for gaming on 1920x1080 @144hz. its been a while since I have logged in here and I'm not sure if I have my current specs on my profile or not so here is what I plan on using it with - i7 4770k, Sabertooth z97 motherboard, 8GB Corsair Ram, 875 Watt PSU. My current gpu is a GTX 590 which just isn't cutting it for me anymore and waiting for the 800 series I don't want because I will be very busy next year so my time for gaming is now.

From that list I would go with the ASUS GeForce GTX 780 Ti DirectCU II 3GB, Asus cards are great, my second option would be a gigabyte Windforce.

Go for the MSI Gaming 780 Ti. The ASUS VRM runs very hot and (in my opinion) Gigabyte cards are crap.

The evga superclocked w/ACX, it is by far the most recommended brand with it's service and the cooler is very good, also the base clock is one of the highest out tere

The cards are good I agree but the ACX utter crap. I've had 5 and all where making strange and loud noises. I'd recommend an EVGA card if you go with a reference cooler!!!

EVGA's customer service IS second to none though.

Additional to my last post, I'd avoid the GHz Edition of Gigabyte's 780 Ti even more so as there have been MANY reports of the cards not being stable at stock clocks/voltages, with owners having to downclock their card to keep it stable.

I have a reference cooled EVGA card now and it cools just as well as the ACX without the audible problems many ACX coolers suffer with.

As I said, some people prefer the reference cooler, others would say it is really good. It's just luck whether you get a good cooler or not

I must be extremely unlucky, I had 5 cards in a row, all with dodgy ACX coolers.

I'd advise anyone considering purchasing an ACX to have a read of this (sizable) thread on the official EVGA forums. It's a very common problem for ACX coolers to have irritating audible problems - http://forums.evga.com/ACX-rattle-noise-problem-fix-m2018526.aspx

Two large 85mm axial fans take care of providing the necessary fresh air. The ACX cooler has been implemented in numerous EVGA models (eg the EVGA GeForce GTX 780 Classified). In the case of the GeForce GTX 780 Ti Classified, EVGA promises a 40 percent larger heatsink volume, GPU and memory temperature lower by 15 percent, and a prolonged life (by a factor of four) of the bearings of the two fans. Reviews usually granted the ACX cooler a good performance, though it is no cure-all. We will see later in the measurements how it helps the EVGA GeForce GTX 780 Ti Classified's temperature, especially when overclocking.

If you read it properly, it'll say that 'Reviews usually granted the ACX cooler a good performance, though it is no cure-all'

Ha, I did read it properly. As I explained, reviewers are always sent hand picked, high performing cards. I've never read a review that has stated the ACX is a bad cooler. However, the sheer amount of people complaining about the ACX coolers in the thread I linked just goes to show that reviews aren't always gospel.

Yes.. but you say that they are hand picked right? so there must be more of these cards that are sold to the public, they can't just make like 10 good cards right? Therefore, some people would have a good evga card that uses the acx cooler, anyways, as I said before, if he dosen't want the acx cooler, that's fine, up to him, but there is also the galaxy hof edition and the inno3d edition, we can argue about whether the acx cooler is bad or not all day but let's just answer his question

you could crossfire two r9 290's for that price and get awesome performance. maybe just upgrade the psu to 1000W+ psu with the extra money saved and get a ssd with it.

Yes, but the msi has a lower base clock, it's 984 ish I think? below 1000hz though, but it's still a 780 ti, so

Because I couldn't of got a R9 295X2 for £600. They're more than £1000 in the UK. Plus I prefer Nvidia.

I have the EVGA Titan Black Superclocked, which is around £800 in the UK, but I got it for around £600. The 295X2's are nearly double that.
