At work i have Comcast business class. I recently brought my home router (Asus rt-ac66u) to use at the office. I wanted to connect a usb hard drive to it and be able to access all the files remotely. It tells me:
The wireless router currently uses a private WAN IP address (192.168.x.x, 10,x,x,x, or 172.16.x.x).

This router may be in the multiple-NAT environment and DDNS service cannot work in this environment.

I called Comcast to see if they could put their SMC router into bridged mode. They said they don't do that anymore, do to complications and that they are not certified to that.

I was curious if it is possible to either clone the Comcast SMC router's mac address into the ASUS router to see if it that would trick the ASUS router into letting me use the DDNS service ASUS provides.

Or would port forwarding the public/external IP address through the Comcast router to the ASUS router be a better option. ( I don't know how to do that. So instructions would be nice)

I have tried disabling DHCP in the Comcast router and it kicked me out and i could not get back into it. I think i may have forgot to uncheck or check some box off or just forgot to do something else. I called Comcast and told them my router went bad and they sent out a tech to change router/modem. SO now i am uncertain about disabling DHCP.

Or is there any other options?

They gave me a SMC router. The firmware looks to be the same as the older SMC 8014 router.
