1000GBP to spend after buying a case, mobo (z97) and all other accessories (headphones, keyboard, mouse and wifi).

Games>editing(nothing extreme)>usual stuff

I use 1080p tv, but im planning to buy monitor later this year.

Im thinking about:
i5-i7
780-780ti(msi,gigabyte,asus,evga) or 290-290x (sapphire, asus, msi)
2x4 ram 1600-2133mhz (kingston, g.skill, corsair)
650-750 psu (evga, xfx, seasonic, corsair)
WD caviar blue 1tb, 840 evo 120gb
some decent enough cooling, because Im going to oc
and dvd or blu-ray drive

What are your recommendations?

You obviously havent used an AMD processor

The FX is ahead in some places , behind in others . For gaming the results are too close to call

and the money you save can be spent on a better graphics card or other hardware

With the money though, either spend a lot of it getting an i7 or get a lesser CPU but still great CPU, an i5. AMD is not very good for most things, compared to an i5. I do agree on the Seagate HDD though.

AMD is quite capable though, especially with multi-tasking and gaming.

Agreed Outlander. The FX-8320 (my procesor) does everything I can imagine, and at a fourth of the price of an i7 or even i5.
