Hello everyone!

I recently finished my first build just a few hours ago, but I've run into this little error. Whenever I start the computer (Power on) It posts, with the ROG logo, and then runs straight into the AmericanMedia boot screen which detects all of my hardware fine. Unfortunately, I get a CPU fan error, which prevents it from going to Windows 7 and I have to go through the Asus UEFI BIOS and manually boot. It says

CPU Fan Error!
F1 to setup.

I'm running a Kraken X61, Asus Maximus VII Hero, and GTX 780 6GB SC. Along with some Corsair Vengeance Pro 1866mhz RAM.

I think the problem stems from the fact that the Kraken has 3 connectors. an internal USB 2.0, which I've plugged into the motherboard. A sata power connector that supplies pump power, along with power for 2 fans (Bitfenix Spectre Pros) which are on the radiator, and a 3-pin fan connector. I plugged the 3-pin fan connector into the CPU_FAN Header, which is 4-pin. Could it be that the mobo is attempting to regulate the speed at which the fan runs, but because it's a 3pin connector it can't, and that's what's giving me the error? Please let me know, and thanks for the help in advance.

Try plugging your radiator fans into the two connectors closest to the Karaken's SATA power connecter (should be four total connectors on that thing).

I did that. Accidentally tagged ya as best awnser, but the Kraken X61 also has a seperate 3pin fan header.

This may be resolved by now, but I had the same thing happen to me. I had the CPU fan cable plugged into the "PWR_Fan" port instead of the "CPU_Fan" port. Once this was done it started up properly with no issues!

also the port CPU_Fan port is a four prong connection, even though the connector only has a three prong female connection
