Before I get started I'd just like to say that I know very little about audio equipment so I may be making no sense or using the wrong terminologies on several occasions.
I'm after a new headset/microphone because the microphone on my current headset (sennheiser PC330) sits far from my mouth, so far that I need a 30 decibel boost on it in order to be heard. This causes unholy amounts of static noise and is near unbearable.
Should I get a separate microphone, it must be able to clearly pick up my voice from an arms length away (normal conversation volume). I would ideally want a flexible microphone on the headset unless I can be convinced otherwise. I have no fixed budget but don't want to spend a huge amount of money on this.
