its the chip and the max for fx is 1.55

the mobo has only 4+2 vrm (Cpu/NB)

i think with 1.5v my mobo would just fry itself :'D

it should take that much to get to 4.6-4.6 anyways it will be between 1.42-1.48v

would a Gigabyte 990XA-UD3 rev 1.x be better for oc? can get that board quite cheap

they are both good board, i trust asus though there bios is alot easier to learn, if you want a really good mother board either the sabertooth or the GIGABYTE GA-990FXA-UD5

i could get a slightly used asus m599fx pro r2.0 for 60-70€ (new costs 130€)

and sabertooth costs around 180-200€ new

I think ill just go with asus

golden chip you should say i had a 8350 it wouldn't get past 4.9 even when i pushed the volts to 1.6 it would never get stable at 5ghz

wen i get my antec 1250 ill try to max OC my cpu with my current mobo, max volts i use will prolly be 1.4-1.42

e : atm im 4.2 with 1.33v prime95 small fft stable, but not blend stable.

max temps are 47-48 core
63-65 socket (scythe ninja 3 push/pull 2x slipstreams 1900rpm)

max temp on fx is 62c but if your stressing you can go a little higher like 65-70 due to the fact that you will never see those temps in real day to day usage. like me right now im at 4.9ghz at 1.46v daily my max for this chip is 5.24@1.5v you can go higher with that board i had a fx6300 with that board and overclocked it to 4.8 at 1.48v. also sr-71 what are your temps like and are you the one that has a giant ass air cooler with slipstreams?

If your using that cooler you can possible get 4.7-4.8 like I said don't be afraid to push it a little bit also that board is good

im picking up my h2o 1250 in ~1-2 hours, ill re-test temps with current setup after installation

i think i failed the heatsink (antec h2o 1250) installation, it slided across the cpu many times when i tried to tighten anf set the screws

3-4hrs in... still not installed...

e: im going to throw this piece of junk to thrash... amd/intel bracket keeps popping off, screws are impossible to tighten and last but not least... i made a freaking huge scratch to thw bottom of the cpu block
