Sata ports help

Hello im confused where to plug my sata cables to for my WD black 2 tb HDD. And my asus optical drive. The intel sata ports? or the ASMedia sata ports. And what are the differences between the two?

They should be labeled on the bottom right.

I believe the Intel controlled ports will be a little bit faster so at least plug the hard drive into those.

You might as well plug the optical drive into them as well since it sounds like you only have those 2 devices.

If you are plugging in multiple hard drives I would try to plug them all into the Intel ports and move the optical drive to the Asmedia ones.

If memory serves me you should its so you can mix sata 2.0 and 3.0 drives.
Depending on the sata ports used by the Intel chipset, AS media.
