How do I clone HDD to SSD if the computer doesn't have a optical disk drive?

I am planning on getting a Lenovo Y50 Touch laptop (which doesn't have a optical disk drive) and replacing the main HDD with a Samsung EVO 840 500GB SSD.
in order to do that I'll have to clone the HDD into the SSD which requires the use of a disk provided by the SSD manufacturer.

however the laptop does not have a optical disk drive.

How will I do this without a optical disk drive?

the only possibilities I see is by
using a USB drive instead of a disk ( if there actually is a usb drive for cloning)
or
buying a external optical disk drive (something like this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?gclid=Cj0KEQjw3cKeBRDG-KKqqIj4qJgBEiQAOamX_Q5ADLeuYwKZqlDtY5QLMMW-_0YxjI0URNTMpFfZq9QaAqOB8P8HAQ&Item=N82E16827151270&nm_mc=KNC-GoogleAdwords&cm_mmc=KNC-GoogleAdwords-_-pla-_-External+CD+%2f+DVD+%2f+Blu-Ray+Drives-_-N82E16827151270&ef_id=U3IAwAAABAKNKoNO:20140725015101:s) and inserting the SSD cloning disk into the external disk drive to clone.

are any of these two ways possible? if not, is it impossible to clone HDD into a SSD for my laptop?

Newegg's site is down at the time I answer this. But the external DVD drive would be the way to go if you use the factory disk.

If you have desktop PC also, you can put the new SSD and the old HDD in the PC and use this pgm: http://www.todo-backup.com/products/home/free-backup-software.htm
And follow this guide: http://www.howtogeek.com/97242/how-to-migrate-windows-7-to-a-solid-state-drive/
