So hi guys. Basically i have an Asus X550CA, the machine has an i5-3337u and is running Windows 8.1 64-bit
the thing is that recently the touchscreen stopped working, just randomly. I shut the laptop down one day only to find out that the touchscreen no longer works the next day i turn it on.

I've talked to Asus but they dont have much idea of whats going on apart from telling me to factory reset the thing. Factory resetting is not really an option for me because i had accidentally deleted the 'recovery partition' earlier.

So i tried a couple of things and one of them worked, i turned off 'fast boot' and found out that the touchscreen now magically works again, but boot times were sluggish so i turned 'fast boot' back on and the touchscreen continues to work, until yesterday when the touchscreen stopped working again. I tried the whole 'fast boot' thing again but to no avail
This is clearly not a hardware problem unless by some co incidence the touchscreen hardware decided to work at the exact same moment when i did the 'fast boot' thing

Heres what else i have tried so far:
-Flashed bios to latest version (300 on Asus site)
-re-installed all touch related drivers
-did the 'fast boot' thing

so any help is appreciated, as i find tom's alot more helpful than any other manufacturer support (sorry Asus :)  )
