Hello, i'm new to the forums and i'd like some help with my Samsung Syncmaster SA950 27 inch monitor.
It's a 120hz monitor, but for some reason every time i set the refresh rate to 100hz or 120hz through the Nvidia control panel,my screen goes black then reverts to 60hz after a couple of seconds, some times my screen shows color but everything is blurry and i can't read anything.
At first i thought the problem might of been from the cable, but after trying out 2 different ones,i still get the same problem. all the cables I've tried are DVI-D.
I only have a single DVI-D port in my graphics card (gigabyte GTX 680) the other port is DVI-I, i can only connect a DVI-D cable to my monitor,i'm currently using windows 8 64bit.

Solution
You should update to 8.1 either way, it's a free update and much better, and just because it worked on 7 does not mean it will work on 8. Yes, it should work with 120hz dual link cable, and I can guarantee you 8.1 is capable, I do not remember if windows 8 is though.

Hello, thank you for the quick responses :)

i don't think i need windows 8.1 to properly use my monitor since I've seen people use it on windows 7 on youtube ,i'll do a bit more research on it though.

i fiddled around with the monitor's settings, but i couldn't find anything that would switch it to 120hz, it was mostly about switching between 3d modes, and adjusting colors.

as for the cable needed, the monitor itself came with a dvi-d dual link cable, but for some reason i lost it,so i'm using another one i bought from a local store.

from what I've gathered the monitor should work at 120hz with a DVI-D dual link cable, which is the one i'm currently using.
