Help minecraft lag spikes!

[video="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TbshSdwzbiM"][/video]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TbshSdwzbiM I have random fps lag, v-sync is off and even if I turn it on it lags, I have an asus 7770 1gb ddr5, amd phenom 9600 quad, 4 gb ram silver line mushkin ddr3 ram, 650watt psu cooler master. My render distance is set at 5 and I have optifine on, I have stuff at low settings but randomly I get lag spikes! I pvp allot and with those random lag spikes I cant pvp! Please help!

It could be overheating. Make sure everything is updated (such as drivers) and make sure you have 64 bit minecraft or 32 bit minecraft to match your system bit.

I have all drivers updated, my cpu is not over heating, and I have 64 bit and I have windows ultimate :/

When you get the lag-spikes, it seems your chunk loading goes way down. Check to see that your CPU is not changing frequency, or that your optifine settings are not doing anything weird.

Unparked quad cpu, optifine, clicked and checked all setting, with and without optifine, full screen-small screen. Etc. Set minecraft to high priority, the thing is I can play BF3 with 20-50 fps on med-high :/

Your CPU might just be too bad. Try running at lowest Render Distance. Again, check out those google search results, they might really help.

Minecraft is MORE CPU dependent than BF3.

Also, why do you have 3.5gb RAM dedicated to minecraft but it only says 232MB allocated.

Usually is says: used memory 5% (X) of (Y)
allocated memory 100% of Y

I allocated 1gb, still same lag spike? Is it a bottle neck? Its clocked in at 2.3 ghz the cpu buts its a quad

Minecraft only uses 1 core, 2 if using optifine so quad core doesn't matter.

It honestly might be your CPU is just too old. Has it always done this or is it new?

Ehh, Java is VERY single core intense and BF3 doesn't case about core strength, it just want 4 of them.

With my gtx660ti SLI I would max BF4 with an old Phenom 2 x4 965 BE, but could barely lock 60fps in minecraft.

In reality, paired with OP's hd7770, a $60 Pentium dual core CPU will be 10x as powerful for minecraft as his CPU is currently, but the Pentium would probably only run BF3 about the same.
