Ive recently purchase an MSI A88x micro ATX motherboard and was trying to figure out what processor to use with it. I have 2 MSI R9 270 (NON-X) grphics cards that i was going to use with this board and was wandering if i should go with an APU or if i should go with a regular CPU for this build. Ive tried looking online but everytime i try to google this question all it keeps coming up with is which cards to use to crossfire with an APU. So can anyone shed a little light on this subject for me please.

I dont have any specs other then the motherboard and the grphics cards because thats all ive purchased at this point.

I would use a sole CPU, no apu since you dont need the integrated graphics cores.
A 760k would be the best thing you could manage. An AM3+ or intel 1150 motherboard would allow you for much better upgrade paths.
FM2+ isnt a gaming socket, AM3+ is at a dead end, 1150 is still going strong.

ive already got my main gaming rig this was more of a guest gaming rig in a small form factor and i didnt want to spend a ton of money on it which is why i didnt go with an intel processor. I already have an AsRock Z87 motherboard sitting in the closet collecting dust becasue i dont want to spend $200+ dollars buying a processor for it. And i picked up the MSI board that Im using for this build for next to nothing.

You can find 1150 socket CPUs down to 50 bucks http://www.newegg.com/global/uk/Product/ProductList.asp...
What is your budget for the CPU? Might as well save some money and use that z87 board.

I dont want to spend anymore then about $100 but i was wanting to go with a minimum of a quad core processor which is why i chose to go with an AMD build.

The pentium G3420 is a strong CPU. The only reason I recommend it is for the upgrade path.
