Both the cards though good, i would personally vote for the 770. It mainly depends on your usage like only gaming or rendering, etc. The R9 280x is extreme value for money but it still struggles to keep up with the 770 (not even the OC
). Also if your running an AMD rig, then an Nvidia would be definitely preferrable due to power consumption issues. But otherwise if your on a tighter budget, and this is where it shines, AMD all the way.

Also the R9 280x would be more future proof because it has 3GB compared to the 770's 2GB. And some games e.g. Watchdogs already use more than 2GB of VRAM.
