Hi. I'm looking to buy a pre-built computer soon and will do it through ibuypower I'm almost sure. I decided I don't want to go through the stress of building a custom myself and if I'm ever going to let myself try to get a computer upgrade at all I will do it through a pre-built. Otherwise I'd probably not do anything and just keep using this desktop built in 2008 (given to me much later).

I wanted to ask you smart folks here if you thought it looked okay. The price is coming out to $1293 when I made some modifications to stuff I'd like to get. I was considering getting a i5-4690k processor and overclocking it, but they only offer liquid cooling or a stock fan. I decided I think a 4690 without overclocking will still be plenty good with this computer and since I wouldn't overclock I could just use the stock fan and be fine. The cpu/heatsink decision and getting it pre-built for me are basically the two main things to reduce stress that will allow me to accept doing this.

I linked from their special http://www.ibuypower.com/Store/B2G-Intel-i5-Special and customized it a bit to what I'd like. I picked:

Apex EL 660 Gaming Case Black
Intel® Core™ i5-4690 Processor (4x 3.50GHz/6MB L3 Cache)
Certified CPU Fan and Heatsink[Intel]
16 GB [8 GB x2] DDR3-1600 Memory Module
*iBUYPOWER Back 2 Gaming Sale* Free Upgrade to DDR3-1866 ADATA XPG V2
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 760 - 2GB - EVGA Superclocked
(in free stuff I just took the headset and watchdogs coupon. I don't even want mcafee - I'll get avast)
Gigabyte GA-Z97-D3H -- 1x PCIe 3.0 x16, 4x USB 3.0, 6x SATA-III 6Gb/s
650 Watt - Thermaltake SMART SP-650 - *Free Upgrade to 750W Thermaltake SMART SP-750 - 80 PLUS Bronze* (Save $20) *iBUYPOWER Back 2 Gaming Sale*
128GB SanDisk SSD + 1TB 7200RPM HARD DRIVE *iBUYPOWER Back 2 Gaming Sale* $50 Instant OFF
2 TB HARD DRIVE -- 64M Cache, 7200rpm, 6.0Gb/s
LG 24x Dual Format/Double Layer DVD±R/±RWBlack -- Free Upgrade to LG Blu-ray Reader Combo Drive *iBUYPOWER Back 2 Gaming Sale*
3D Premium Surround Sound Onboard
Onboard LAN Network (Gb or 10/100)
Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium + Office Starter 2010 (Includes basic versions of Word and Excel)64-Bit
Total: $1293

I tried to get a case I like with good ventilation.
I got a i5-4690 with the stock fan.
I know people say 8GB of ram is fine but I think i'd just start with 16 to make myself happy (previous computer had 4).
I think a gtx 760 2gb superclocked is a decent gpu for my price range.
I wasn't really sure what to pick for a motherboard so will get the default or something near it's price range.
I think they'll upgrade the psu to a 750W 80 plus bronze apparently.
I wanted to get an SSD and have a separate D drive (the 1 tb) and a separate E drive (the 2 tb) purely for steam game downloads.
I guess a blue ray player is fine if it also can use disks like normal.
Got windows 7 - don't want windows 8.

Do you think these selections look okay? Would you choose any different options there? Thank you very much for your help!

I was looking through and saw the 16gb of ram. Unless you plan to do CAD work or editing or something, tiny voices is right. You will not need 16gb. For a better CPU I would recommend a 770.
You will never see a difference between 8gb and 16gb when gaming. Just get 8gb. 16 is a waste. USe the money on a better GPU.

PSU is not great. This is the single most important part of a PC. Change to XFX, Seasonic, antec.

You have a z98 motherboard which is pointless when a non-overclocking CPU. Get an H97 board.

Use all saved money to get a better GPU as a gtx760 is weak for a $1200 computer.

Thanks for the input. I could change the RAM down to 8GB and up the gpu to a GTX770 2GB Superclocked and it would be $1308.
So that would definitely be better for gaming right? Sometimes on this computer if I watch game streams on twitch it will lag alot and be unviewable but I think that's when they have a really high resolution set for their max res. Or if I open tons of internet tabs it will slow down a ton. I know the internet tabs is affected by how much RAM you have, right? When I check task manager it's always using a ton of memory. What about viewing a high resolution stream? Would 16 gb of ram vs 8 help that?

I don't see options for H97 motherboards. The one I chose was the default selection for the build and the cheapest/one of the cheapest. I could change it around to other stuff but am not sure why / what to choose from that list.

For PSU options I see I could change it to:
850 Watt - XFX Core Edition PRO850W - 80 PLUS Bronze +$37 more
750 Watt - Corsair CX750M - 80 PLUS Bronze, Full Modular +$30 more
If you think the brand is important for the PSU then would you choose one of those?

Again thank you for any help!

For PSU choices between 500-1000 watts they have:

500 Watt - Standard-38
500 Watt - Corsair CX500 V2 - 80 PLUS Bronze-17
600 Watt - Standard - *Free Upgrade to 650 Watt NZXT HALE82N-N -80 PLUS Bronze*(Save $20)
*iBUYPOWER Back 2 Gaming Sale* [Promotion Item] -18
650 Watt - Thermaltake SMART SP-650 - *Free Upgrade to 750W Thermaltake SMART SP-750 - 80 PLUS Bronze* (Save $20)
*iBUYPOWER Back 2 Gaming Sale* [Promotion Item]
700 Watt - Standard - *Free Upgrade to 700W OCZ ModXStream Pro - 80 PLUS*
*iBUYPOWER Back 2 Gaming Sale* [Promotion Item] +3
750 Watt - Corsair CX750M - 80 PLUS Bronze, Full Modular+30
750 Watt - Corsair RM750 - 80 PLUS Gold, Full Modular+59
750 Watt - Thermaltake SMART SP-750M - *Free Upgrade to 850W Thermaltake SMART SP-850M - 80 PLUS Bronze* (Save $50)
*iBUYPOWER Back 2 Gaming Sale* [Promotion Item] +43
800 Watt - LEPA MaxBron 800W - 80 PLUS Bronze+30
850 Watt - Corsair RM850 - 80 PLUS Gold, Full Modular+80
850 Watt - XFX Core Edition PRO850W - 80 PLUS Bronze

So in order to get an XFX I'd have to get the 850W pretty sure.

I chose the "650 Watt - Thermaltake SMART SP-650 - *Free Upgrade to 750W Thermaltake SMART SP-750 - 80 PLUS Bronze" because based on the list I thought that might be an ok option and have wattage to spare. If you had to choose between this and spending $37 more for the "850 Watt - XFX Core Edition PRO850W - 80 PLUS Bronze" which would you go for?

Thanks again, guys!
