Can I 4.2GHZ?

The i7-4790k comes at 4ghz. My MOBO is going to be the MSI-Z87. What should I overclock the cpu to? I am guessing 4.2ghz?

It turbo boosts to 4.4 without overclocking it.

What cpu cooler have you got?

If a good cooler you should get at least 4.6 per http://techreport.com/review/26683/overclocking-the-core-i7-4790k/2

Yea thanks to turbo boost it will run at 4.4Ghz. Depending on the CPU cooler you have and cooling paste you will get anything between 4.4Ghz and 5Ghz out of it probably.

Thats a decent cooler, so again while it already runs at 4.4 Ghz with Turbo Boost, unless your thermal paste is absolutely terrible you should manage 4.6Ghz.
