I am going to build a new PC soon and I've been puzzled on what is better. The two things i'm looking at is either two GTX 770's with 4 GB of memory in sli configuration or one GTX 780(ti) with 3 GB of memory. Can anyone help me with advice on which is better? I plan on doing extreme gaming and light video editing if that will effect what I should get.

I would recommend the 780. It is a beast of a GPU.

SLI, not only will you be getting more RAM, but the raw computing capabilities will increase two fold. Much better to have two powerful cards then one card that's slightly more powerful. Make sure you get adequate cooling since these cards will be in pretty close proximity with one another. Also, get a capable power supply to power these two. Good luck!

OK. Would a 780 in two way sli be a overkill? if not ill probably use that then, just have to compromise some other parts.

I actually have an 270x build and personally know more about radeon cards than gtx cards because when I was researching my first build that's all I ever looked at. Nvidia is not my strong suit.

Same here, before I built my first build I witnessed high end Nvidia cards take a tumble and saw ATI cards stay strong for years. :-P

Just wanted to jump in real quick. If you are planning on SLI two 770s with 2gb of vram, you will not have 4gb of vram. If you are going the SLI 770 route, I would suggest getting 4gb cards so you don't get bottle necked on vram. From you post its hard to tell if you are planning 2x4gb cards or 2x2gb and mistaking that for giving you 4gb of vram, since its a common misconception.

Each gtx 770 has 4 gb of vram if it helps. so basically one gtx 770 = 4gb of vram.
