Hi,

I've just purchased the EVGA GTX 780 FTW edition card, and I'm extremely happy with it. Now it's got me thinking whether in the future I should SLI.

Would the performance jump be worth the extra $650 I paid for one?

I do plan on upgrading to a 1440p monitor but for the time being I'm using 1080p max.

And I assume my Corsair ax750 power supply would be able to handle the extra power?

I would like to hear your opinions,

Thanks in advance :)

Google is your friend.
According to Nv website...

250 WGraphics Card Power (W)
600 WMinimum Recommended System Power (W)
One 8-pin and one 6-pin

Assuming you trust that, 850w PSU would be safe, 750 would be pushing it a little.

As for 'is it worth it', SLI doesn't scale 100%, and varies game to game. Some games get close to 90% increase, others 50%, a rare few see zero increase.

Gaming at 1080, a single 780 should see you at a solid 60fps on any game @ max. Getting a 2nd card before you have a higher rez or higher refresh rate monitor is worthless.
Once you get your new monitor re-evaluate your performance and go from there. Ultimately, a single card will always work more reliably that sli/xf.

I have 2 770's in sli, and the performance increase even on 1080 is incredible, now for a 780 sli'd with another, I can't even imagine the performance increase you will receive. I will say I have an 800 watt power supply for dual 770's so for dual 780's, maybe look at a high quality 850 watt psu. Hope this just sparks some thought in ya.
