The simplest thing I can say is: check the connector. If this headset has only 1x3.5mm connector, this is stereo, no way you can output more than 2 channels from your computer to the headset. The only way you can get "surround" is by software emulation in drivers or by using emulating hardware embedded in the headset. This effect can sometimes be quite good, though, but this is not *true* surround (i.e. multiple channels). Surround in headphones is also somewhat strange concept, since you are only using two headphone drivers (speakers) anyway; there are headphones with multiple drivers with each driver having their own channel. Frankly, all these concepts are similar in my opinion, and none of them is able to provide true surround you get by encircling yourself with multiple speakers, but they do manage to achieve quite remerkable results sometimes. Depends on the application you use as well.
