FIXED-Updated bios for use with Ivy Bridge.

I recently upgraded my pc and am using the spares to build another one.
However, I can't get it to boot. It makes all the usual noises and the fans spin but the display does not work, no bios, and after 20 seconds it restarts itself.

I have removed a stick of RAM and tried different RAM, all other components are unplugged I have even tried another PSU. I'm fairly sure it is the CPU but both the CPU and the MoBo were working a week ago when I moved them.

MoBo: Zotac h67itx
CPU: Intel i3 3255
PSU: Corsair Bronze 600W

Solution

Its pretty straight forward, most can do it in windows now.

Bios update should fix the problem. good luck.

Still nothing.
I unplugged the PSU, removed the battery, plugged back in and booted, didn't work.
Re seated the CPU, tried booting again, didn't work.
Re inserted the battery, tried booting, didn't work.

Did you wait a while (30 secs) or press the power button while unplugged and battery out? Or plug it in without the battery and without shutting down, just pull the power plug out while it's running then wait 30 secs.

If it still doesn't work, try inserting the old CPU back see if it boots with that.

Nope didn't update the bios. I swapped the CPUs, the i5 boots on the Zotac and and i3 boots on my new board both CPUs are fine. A bios update sounds like it might fix it. I've never done one before any steps or pointers?

EDIT: found an update for my Mobo to add Ivy bridge Support
