I recently bought the amd a10-6800k apu chip and I would like to know as a person who has never overclocked anything before, i'm wondering is it worth it to overclock the CPU and IGPU in this chip? How much extra performance will I get from doing this? Is It safe to overclock? and if it is safe, whats steps or processes do I have to go through to overclock, is it difficult?

I don't recommend overclocking with the stock heat sink, however. That's speaking as a person whose tried it. It tends to overheat pretty badly when running the stock cooler. It's garbage. I upgraded to a nice aftermarket cooling system and was able to bring my A10-6800K up to 5.2GHz without much trouble, but have since taken it down to 4.6, as that's the sweet spot where it doesn't give me much extra in games right now. Perhaps when I get games that are more CPU intensive, I'll consider taking it up another notch. Unless I'm gaming, I keep it betwen 2-3.8GHz for normal everyday stuff like surfing or watching movies.
That cpu actually overclocks quite well. The igpu... meh... overclocking it can help... but not as much as fast ram does. As for improvement... it's in my experience if you can get a piledriver cored amd cpu up around 4.6ghz-4.8ghz they're pretty much indistinguishable from a core i cpu in many gaming titles. so you'll see a nice pop from giving it an overclock.

Overclocking the iGPU won't give you too much gain; having faster RAM usually gives a more noticeable result. If you have decent RAM, you can attempt overclocking it, but be sure to read some guides on it first.

Overclocking the CPU will help for a good number of things, and will probably be the easiest thing to do. Even with an entry level air cooling solution, you should be able to hit 4.6 relatively easy.
