Hello everyone,

I have this GPU
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

I already plugged into the motherboard, but i don know which power cable from the psu should be plugged into it?

I have this power supply

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

More about : stuck installing gpu

The GPU requires two PCI-E 6+2 connectors. The one with all 8 pins plugged the other one only the 6 pins.

You need one 6-pin PCI-E power connector and 1 8-pin PCI-E power connector.

Your PSU is likely equipped with several of those:

http://www.pcper.com/images/reviews/474/14-PCI-E.jpg

Use one of them without the additional 2-pin cable, and the other in full 8-pin configuration.

But the GPU has 4+4 and 3+3 total of six pins there! Im i correct? Im not really expert, would explain more please.

Yes, but 4+4 = 8, and 3+3 = 6. Your GPU needs 6 pins + 8 pins. See the picture above.

It's not the rows that count, its the entire socket, the square "block". There are two of them, right next to each other. You can see that they are separate units. One is 6 pins, the other 8 pins.

6+2 means that 2 pins are separated. You say a 4+4. That is the 8pin connector. It is of course two rows with 4 pins each.

So keep the other 8 pins empty?

OK, so lets try by using steps:

STEP 1: Identify 2 cables on your power supply that have this connector at the end (click the link to see the picture)

http://www.pcper.com/images/reviews/474/14-PCI-E.jpg

STEP 2: Connect one of these 8-pin cables to 8 pins (one black block on the card). It can only fit one way. MAKE SURE YOU USE ALL 8 pins, even the 2 which are deliberately left "detached" from the cable: keep them together by using your fingers and push into the 8-pin power connector on your graphics card.

STEP 3: Connect the other 8-pin cable to 6 pins (second black block on the card), but leave 2 pins unconnected (they are already separated on the PSU cable, so it can be used either as 8-pin or 6-pin cable depending on your needs).

You know the saying... "all the electronic components need white smoke to operate. Once the white smoke gets out, the components don't work anymore". --> hope that this won't be the case, hehehe :D

They come from the front panel. Some of them are wires for front USB ports, and the rest are power button, reset button, power led, HDD led, (eventually speaker, depending on the case), and front audio if it exists. They ALL need to be plugged into your motherboard's corresponding sets of pins (EDIT: well... technically they all don't NEED to be plugged... the only one that really must be plugged is power button, but you will lose the functions of front panel indicators and buttons if you only connect the power button and nothing else).

USB and audio are usually well marked on the motherboard. However, the "tricky" part (for new people) is connecting the power, reset, HDD led and power LED. You will have to consult your motherboard's manual, but usually this is a set of 2 rows of pins in the right-bottom corner of the mobo (opposite diagonally to the CPU). They are usually marked on the mobo itself. And you must pay attention to the polarity of the wires - colored wires are plus, black are minus.

Great! Got it.

What about the header on the motherboard called COMA? It has 9 pins in it what should go into it?
Also Ive noticed there is about 3-4 fan headers on the mobo! And nothing plugged into any of them! Is that normal?

I have level 10 GT case from ThermalTake

Fans have several methods of connecting. Some cases use fans with big 4-pin molex connectors (directly to PSU) to spare the connectors on the motherboard which you can later use for even more fans you buy yourself.

Leave COMA unconnected, this is for an old COM port (serial port, used for modems, printers and stuff a decade ago), mostly not used today except for industrial purposes or electronic hobbysts. Just connect what the case offers, nothing else.

It would be a miracle if it worked right out of the first attempt, to be honest ;)  Even experienced system builders sometimes fail to connect *everything* :D

But:| the only fan that works is the cpu cooler which is the H100i!!!

Non of the case fans worked. I immediately turned the power off

Nice what should I do now :(

COnnect the case fans, obviously. Every case is different, and you will need to check your case's manual to see how are the fans supposed to be connected.

Found this somewhere:

"There is a molex lead (4 pin) for the fans; the rear fan uses its own 3-pin lead allowing it to be controlled by the motherboard."

So, apparently, you should connect the rear fan to the mobo, and use 1 molex connector from PSU to give power to your case's other fans (this connector is usually somewhere in upper part, back-panel section).

By testing, mate. If it works, it works. Glad you made it, congratz btw :)  Now try playing some games and monitor the temps by using hwmonitor, report your max cpu and gpu temps.

Don't forget to update your BIOS to newest version (if not already installed)... Google it if you are not sure how to.

If everything works fine, no need to update bios, just keep using your computer and keep an eye on your temperatures. Download hwmonitor and use it for this purpose.
