Pretty much the title
I have followed guides such as this one to try and increase the speed of my SSD but it has increased the write speed ~30mbs

Is the drive still in warranty? Was it at one time performing in the expected range?

While it is completely possible that the drive could be defective and you followed that guide have you done any troubleshooting? Do you have the right SATA cable? Have you tried a different cable? Have you tried enabling rapid mode? Please forgive me if you have already done this since it does mention it in the guide but are you sure that ACHI mode is still enabled in the BIOS?

I believe it is still in warranty it's approximately a year old.
I dont quite remember what the benchmark was when it was brand new Not sure i have a screencap either.

Samsung SSD warranty
On their site it says it's covered for 3 years.

I've done fairly extensive troubleshooting
I looked in my bios and it says its connected via SATA 3 (my mobo also came with 1 black SATA 3 and I bought a red SATA 2 cable so im quite certain I didnt mix the two cables up)

rapid mode is only for EVO SSdsMine is just an 840
ACHI mode is enabled

Your motherboard has 4 SATA 3 (6Gb/s) ports.

Double-check that your SSD is connected to one of the 2 Intel 6Gb/s ports (SATA3_0 or SATA3_1), not to one of the ASMedia 6Gb/s ports (SATA3_A0 or SATA3_A1).

See page 13 of your motherboard manual for the location of the ports.

I will do that later but if it was the port/cable why would that only affect the write speeds?
