Monitor Not Recognising PC when graphics card is in!

Hi All. I have just recently built a gaming pc and have installed windows 7 with all MB drivers installed. however when i inserted the graphics card into the pc and connected it from the motherboard to the monitor via dsub i didn't get any signal. I tried again with hdmi and still got nothing? Any suggestions please?

Gigabyte z87-HD3
4GB Vengeance RAM
1TB WD DIgital Blue HDD
GTX 760 2GB

You connect the monitor via the gpu's display ports, not the motherboard's. The motherboard's display outputs are disabled when you have a gpu installed.

First obvious solution is why are you even connecting your video cable to the motherboard when and not the graphics card??? Obviously your computer auto switched to PCI-e as the primary adapter not on-board.
