Hey guys I am about to order the Samsung 840 ssd. But I don't want to buy another copy of windows, so how can I transfer the os from my HDD to the new ssd? I want the ssd for booting up windows and storing some games in it but also want to keep the HDD for other programs , files etc.

Solution
If you're HDD doesn't have more used space than the capacity of your SSD, just clone the drive to the new SSD using any cloning tool. The Apricorn SATA Wire Notebook upgrade kit is easy to use. I use it every time I do a drive upgrade.

On the other hand, if the used drive space on your HDD exceeds the capacity of your new SSD, there is no way to easily tranfer only the OS to the new drive. You'll be looking at a re-install in that case.
