I am planning on getting an MSI R9 290 Gaming Edition (overclocked). Should I wait for the 800 series instead or will they be significantly more expensive (870 and 800 GPUs). Also will the 780 Ti become cheaper when the 800 series comes out so should I get that instead?
Would like to know your thoughts, All responses appreciated.
Thanks

The Ti will not get cheaper, maybe a little, but not significantly.

The waiting game is never worth it.
If you want a GPU now, get the R9 290.

The 800 series will be overly expensive on release. Within 2 months the previous series will get price drops then dissappear from stock. By then you'll be asking whether you should buy one of the new 800 series or wait till the new Radeons are out. Then the 800 series prices will start to drop as Radeon release their new gpu's.

This cycle will repeat.

What is, will be.

Buy what you want now.

It depends on your needs. Do you need a boost ? or is 4k the goal? etc.

For me my 670 is not enough to avoid slight fps dips at max settings 1080p. So I'm looking for a 30% increase so that a dip as low as 45 would be avoided. If the 800 series is an expected 30% better... I'd have a huge leap coming from 2 gens back. At 1080p I'd expect that to be an excellent card.

4k games can dip to the 40's and sometimes avg 50's with SLI 780's ... so next gens would be helpful
