3d modelling pc build - help

I am looking to build myself a pc capable of running various modelling programmes but primarily 3ds max with the addition of adobe products and the standard windows (7) setup. My budget for the pc without screens is approximately £1300.

I will be using it for advanced 3ds max models and animations. I would like it to have 64gb ram and an i7 but all spec's are open for discussion. Please help as I am truly stuck and wish to start building it soon before I return to do my masters in architecture.

I run LightWave 3D and Adobe Creative Suite on a five year old i920 with 12 GB and a pair of Nvidia GTX 670's. So you don't HAVE to go with a fire-breathing workstation.

However...if I were starting from scratch, and I didn't plan to use the machine for gaming, I would build up a workstation. Given your budget, I would stay with a single processor, but get the most cores you can...say, an i7 4930K. Following the rule of "2GB of RAM per thread" that would say you wouldn't need more than 24 GB, but I'd go with 32.

Get an SSD for your operating sysem and software, and a honkin' big hard drive for data storage.

Unless you plan to aggressively overclock, air cooling will be fine.

Sink the rest of the budget into a workstation level graphics card.

Thank you videobear, I am looking to see if anyone can help list specific parts and maybe would it be wise for me as an amateur to go through such a company as this:

I like the customizable aspect but pricing lets it down, however is there an ideal mix on there you would purchase for lets say under $2200 (aka £1300).

I do not need screens with this price so hopefully this will make it more worth my while.
